The Celtic Claddagh Ring is a symbolic ring that references a person's status in the direction the ring is worn. If the Claddagh ring is worn on the left hand with the crown pointing away from the heart the person wearing the ring is married. If the ring is worn on the left hand with the crown pointing towards the heart the person wearing the ring is engaged to be married. If a ring is worn on the right hand with the crown facing away from the heart the person wearing the ring is seeking a relationship with another person. Lastly, if the ring is worn on the right hand with the crown facing the heart references the person wearing the ring is not interested in a relationship. Claddagh rings are traditionally used as wedding bands, engagement bands and promise rings. Many even wear the popular Claddagh as a fashion ring.
