How much should you give as a wedding gift?
When you go to as many weddings as I do, you need to come up with some gifting guidelines. First off, you should always give with your heart, as well as what you can afford. Don’t break the bank, and don’t short someone for their ideas or past. In my area, central United States Chicago land area, $75 has become my guideline for gifting money on a per guest basis. You should always aim at very minimal covering your costs of the meal, and $75 sounds accurate for a meal with open bar. If the wedding you attended doesn’t have open bar, $50 is considered appropriate. Registry gifts are usually reserved for other events such as engagement parties, stock the bar parties, bridal showers and bachelor and bridal parties. Most wedding guests give cash gifts as a wedding presents. If you are a parent of the groom or bride, keep to the standard of the gifting guidelines, and additional funding should be given outside the of the wedding gift. Surprising the groom and bride after the wedding with additional funds allows the newly weds to be as conservative during their wedding expenditures. Groomsman and bridesmaids should typically gift fractionally more then the guest gifting guidelines. Forever Metals has Faceted Wedding Bands on sale.
